MBX Surf Camp

Welcome to Main Beach Expeditions Camp 2010! Located in East Hampton NY, MBX Surf Camp offers five day sessions of water sports in one of the Northeast’s most pristine water systems. The core of MBX is surfing. Children ages 8 to 14 receive one-on-one instruction from experienced and knowledgeable surf counselors. MBX travels to beaches from Southampton to Montauk, offering a variety of different surfing experiences. Wave and weather conditions are constantly monitored to ensure each camper will experience the safest and most rewarding surf on the East End.

MBX teaches your child to be comfortable in the water and provides the greatest opportunity to develop his or her surfing skills. Campers will also participate in flat-water kayaking, windsurfing and stand up paddling. MBX operates under the philosophy that achievement is fostered greatest in a safe and fun environment. All staff is CPR and First Aid certified, and each session is supervised by an ocean lifeguard as well as a water safety instructor. Sessions are limited to 24 campers to ensure that every one receives ample amounts of personal instruction. Ten sessions are available starting Monday, June 28 and ending on Friday, September 3.

The east end of Long Island offers over 25 miles of distinguished surf breaks. MBX camp travels to beach breaks in Southampton, East Hampton, and Amagansett, as well as Ditch Plains in Montauk.

Stand up paddling is one of the fastest growing watersports available on the east end. Initially used for big wave training, SUP has evolved into a multi-faceted tool used for surfing, transportation, and leisurely outings. Whether it be in the surf or on flat water, stand up paddling involves a rigorous core workout. Campers are instructed on proper technique in order to have the best opportunity to experience the water from a whole new perspective.

Each camper will spend a half day at Long Island’s premier windsurfing location. Napeague Harbor is a vast expanse of shallow water which harbors great amounts of untouched wind. Camper’s will learn from Bill Garry, a windsurfing expert who, since 1991, has used Napeague Harbor to teach beginner windsurfing.

Campers also participate in a half day adventure kayak paddle across Georgica Pond. This fresh-water estuary provides access to Georgica beach, where campers explore the various interacting marine ecosystems.
